Kendal Film Festival

Kendal Film Festival

A superb event to watch the best outdoor films, listen to adventurers talking about their experiences and a great place to get inspired for your own expeditions.

We saw the premiere of Wide Boyz, a climbing documentary about offwidth climbing, and heard presentations from adventurers like Tim Emmet discussing Helkman Falls and the Trango Towers. Karen Darke's discussion of her paralympic achievements was brilliant, and filmmaker Jen Randall's documentary Push It about big wall climbing in Yosemite was inspiring.

Andy Mouncey's presentation at an Adidas event was a negative. However, the festival's greatest value is the opportunity to meet up with your mates and to discuss and plan your own adventures.

The Brazil Big Wall Team was formed at the festival. Dave Gladwin, Mike Turner, John Roberts and myself, meeting together for the first time. Jen Randall expressed interest in joining us to film the expedition. I'm less experienced than my teammates, I've never bolted on lead or climbed a big wall previously, but that's what makes it exciting.
